Re: WRUW 2/17 through 2/23/19

Today I wore what was my first "real" watch, a little octagonal Longines my grandfather gave me many years ago:

Beautiful watch, eclecticfunk -- love the lugs!

Since this was a very wet Sunday here, an Elgin "Neptune" decided to appear:

(Yes, Elgin guys, I know the dial isn't the correct one, but I've been reluctant to change it because I like it a lot.)

Beautiful "Ericsson"! Great choice for your visit. (Can't resist pointing out that it's an Illinois "Andover" on steroids, which Fred Friedberg notes in his new book: "For its Explorer series, Hamilton was thus wisely building on, modifying and, in some instances, improving the designs it acquired f...

WRUW 2/10 through 2/16/2019?

My wristwear for church today was an Illinois ladies' Octagon model, with a moiré dial:

Since we're still in the season of Epiphany, I thought the star pattern on the dial would make this watch a good choice.

Re: A special Marquis

Yes, it's a very beautiful watch -- and a very scarce one in that particular two-tone configuration. (Bryan has a great eye!)

Wonder who the happy new owner is? (I noticed that the watch sold very quickly when Bryan listed it on his website.)

Today I wore an Elgin white gold and black enamel "mystery model" with an unusual bezel design: http://mrtoad.net/Media/201902WRUW/Elgin_14K-fan-enamel.jpg I've been trying to identify this watch for a long time but as yet haven't found a catalog, advertisement, or other documentation for it, much l...

Re: Newly Acquired 14k White Gold Thinomatic T-20x

I am curious about solid white gold Hamilton buckles as well — I have only ever seen one. . . .
Likewise. The only one I've ever seen was the one Bryan had for sale on his website recently -- and sold quickly.

Great-looking "Celestial," Grumpy! My watch today has been a two-tone Gruen (Cartouche 344): http://mrtoad.net/Media/201901WRUW/Gruen_Biltmore.jpg It was because of this watch that I made an interesting Illinois discovery: the case, by Wadsworth, is just like the one for the Illinois "Biltmore"! It'...

Cool Elgin and Hamilton -- what a great start for the week's watches here!

My wristwear for church today was a green gold filled Elgin Model 664 (aka E-11 and "Oval"):
