If it were mine, it would be halfway to Wilmington, Ohio, already. I get that Illinois collectors value dial originality more than some other brand collectors do, but this one seems like a good candidate for a refinish. With the raised tracks, all that would have to be printed is the logo. I bet it would come out looking great.

All good advice. I chickened out doing a water bath cleaning and opted for a rodico dry rub. It definitely lightened it up. Will see if I can find a nicer original condition one, but will think seriously about getting this one refinished.

I think the white part of the dial looks TERRIFIC. At this point perhaps you might want to speak with Robert at ID about re-printing the Illinois logo and re-filling the numbers with aged (NOT ORANGE!!!) luminous. That's all it really needs... and, frankly, I think this will look better than the vast morority of other Beau dials because of the fact the Butler's Square and numerals are raised/etched.

Agree!
This dial already has the raised areas all set, it is the middle area that needs attention and ID can take care of that.
Give it a go if you like.
This is a very cool Beau to have and it should look great when done!!

Well I scored a NOS Beau Dial from Fred and I couldn't be happier with the results. The lume matches well with the hands. Also, it turns out that the old dial was an older refinish from 1938.

Wowsers. Brilliant. Looks fantastic. Welcome to the addictive world of Illinois. :) As Greg has often said to me, if the case is good, everything else can be sorted.

Can't wait until my divorce is sorted and I can start buying bits for all my half finished projects again.

Great result.

I am Floored!!!

Folks,
This is a PERFECT example of a home run!

This watch has been saved from the heap and brought back to life as a CHAMP!!!

This looks like it came from the factory and the money you have into it was WELL
worth it... This watch now has VALUE.

Like I said to Andy... If you have some patience, you can take a good solid case and
put together a true winner if you do some legwork and get the right bits and pieces.
I do this ALL the time, you just have to educate yourself on what goes with what.

Congrats on an Incredible restoration!!!

Next on the list...
